Dan Otero knew that he wanted to contribute more to professional baseball after his playing career ended.
Dan Otero was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 2007 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut with the Giants on April 7, 2012, also winning a World Series ring. He would spend the follow three seasons with the Oakland A's and 2016 thru 2019 with the Cleveland Indians. He spent the Covid-shortened 2020 season at the New York Yankees' alternate training site before retiring.
Otero knew he wanted to stay in the game after retirement. He made some calls and had many conversations before landing a job with Cleveland in 2021 in their Baseball Operations Department. Towards the end of the season, Major League Baseball approached him about an interesting position.
